Designed to equip prospective instructors of English to teach writing successfully in their future classrooms, EN 4170 will provide you with tools to become critically reflective about the theories and methods of teaching writing as they have been practiced and are currently practiced.  Individuals planning to teach (or tutor) English at a university or community college may also find the course useful.  In an intensive course that combines elements of theory, methods, practice, and workshop in the areas of composition and rhetoric, we will engage in a series of readings and activities designed to raise your theoretical awareness and to prompt reflection on teaching practices.
